So we returned last night from ‘The Pet Show 2017’. A 2-day event hosted in Staffordshire at their county show ground. An extravaganza for all things furry and scale.

This was the NPRS’s first official show and we went to represent pouched rats across the land, share our experience, spread the word, raise awareness and let the public meet and greet some of our very own pouched rats. We were also raring to share some of the great work APOPO are doing with members of the public.

The show went swimmingly. The show was well attended and we were kept very busy to the entire weekend, meeting some very nice people along the way. Tora Bell, Arthur, Diddy, and Lois all helped us with the show and did excellent for their first show.

Visitors were not only shocked to see such a large rodent but amazed to hear about them and meet them in person. The NPRS stand was a popular spot for show visitors and had coverage in the show booklet.

We even got featured in an interview with BBC Stroke radio, check out the recording here [01:14:00] , I hope we did pouched rats proudly.

On day one we were fortunate enough to be visited by Dr. Ross Cooper who got some spend some time with our pouchies and pose for some photographs.

A huge thank you goes out to the volunteers who helped the show go so smoothly and gave up their weekend to raise some pouched rat awareness.
